The menu at Little Kathmandu features an array of flavorful dishes, each prepared with a perfect blend of spices that are a hallmark of Nepali cuisine. The restaurant's offerings are diverse, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences. From vegetarian options to meat-based dishes, there’s something for everyone. One standout is their momo, a type of steamed dumpling filled with your choice of meat or vegetables. These dumplings are tender and flavorful, served with a zesty dipping sauce that adds an extra layer of excitement.

Another must-try is their thali, a traditional platter that allows you to experience a variety of dishes in one meal. The thali at Little Kathmandu includes perfectly spiced lentils, rice, pickles, and your choice of curry, all beautifully presented in small compartments. The balance of flavors is exquisite, offering a perfect harmony between savory, tangy, and spicy elements. If you prefer something a bit spicier, their chicken or goat curry is sure to satisfy, with a rich, robust sauce that is both flavorful and comforting.

Little Kathmandu also excels when it comes to its atmosphere. The moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm, inviting decor that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. The wooden furnishings, colorful artwork, and traditional music playing softly in the background create a welcoming and cozy environment. As for drinks, Little Kathmandu has a selection of traditional beverages that complement their meals perfectly. Their sweet lassi, a yogurt-based drink, is a refreshing option to balance the spices of the dishes. For those who prefer something a bit stronger, they also offer a variety of beer and wine options, as well as traditional Nepali alcohol like ara.

The restaurant is conveniently located in El Cerrito, making it easily accessible for anyone in the East Bay area. Whether you’re popping in for a casual lunch or looking to enjoy a more elaborate dinner, Little Kathmandu offers a fantastic setting. • This is genuinely one of my favorite restaurants in the East Bay! There are a ton of great vegetarian/vegan options, and the flavor and spice is perfection! Simple/cozy set up in the restaurant, and options for delivery/pick up. Very friendly staff too! 10/10!

  • The fried rice with the Gobi Manchurian tasted delicious and a fantastic pairing. Samosa chaat was delightfully tangy and the chilli momos were saucy and flavorful. The spice level customizations are carefully done - the mild offered no teary eyes and the medium had a kick to it. The Nepal ice beer was light and crisp. Portion sizes were huge and we had leftovers over 1-2 more meals. If you'd like to avoid leftovers and are moderately hungry, share a fried rice and an entree to pair it with. Service was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back for more!

  • We ordered vegetarian food from this restaurant for an event at the nearby temple, and everything was excellent. The dishes were flavorful, fresh, and well-prepared. The portion sizes were generous, which made it perfect for serving a group. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Highly recommend for both quality and quantity!

  • The best curry I had in Bay Area. We had their to-go a few months ago and it was delicious and we wanted to dine in and eat even more fresh. We had Chicken Thali, Lamb Curry and Steamed Chicken Momo. We loved all. I had Thali that comes with variety of curries on a plate. I chose chicken for the protein and absolutely amazing taste. Well I love chicken in any form so it didn’t bothered me. But can be challenging for some folks who don’t like bone in meat. It actually makes the curry taste better because the bone makes the broth tho. Servers were very attentive and sweet. This place will be a part of our local routine stops.

  • We had pani puri, dahi puri, wai wai sadeko, and the goat thali, and everything was absolutely delicious. The pani puri was fresh and flavorful, the dahi puri was perfectly balanced and creamy, and the wai wai sadeko had the right amount of spice and tang. The goat thali was the highlight rich in flavor, well-cooked, and very satisfying. Overall, the food tasted authentic and fresh, and the experience was excellent. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely back

  • I drove here all the way from Dublin and it was worth it. The food is closer to the authentic nepalese food. Parking - Plenty available in front of the restaurant in a shared parking for the strip mall Ambience - Nothing fancy, quaint and unassuming place in a strip mall Cost - $20-30 dollars per person for an appetizer and an entrée Food Review: (All Vegetarian) Momos - 10 pieces in a plate with thin outer shell served with two sauces and pickled daikon radish and carrots. Better momo than most other places in the Bay Area Nimki/Papad Chat - Really good, took me back to streets of Nepal. Spice level can be customized. Crispy, hot and spicy with a tangy kick Thali - Looked exactly like the Nepalese Thakali. Looked very appetizing but I did not try it. Will update the review on my next visit Masala Chai - Yummy KTM Lemonade - Mildly favored lemonade with Jaljeera
